Librarians’ perceptions and attitudes towards linked data applications in Nigerian and Indian university libraries, Michael Fagbohun
Globally, many libraries are driven to reduce redundancy in cataloguing work; by increasing standardization and visibility of library resources through the adopting of current structured data in the form of Semantic Web using linked data technologies. Despite the accrued benefits of Linked data in increasing visibility of library resources. It has been observed libraries in Nigeria and India have not yet deployed Linked Data technologies and this could be as a result of wrong perception and attitudes of libraries in these countries. It is on this note that this study investigates the perceptions and attitudes of librarians with respect to the adoption of linked data in Nigerian and Indian University libraries. It also investigates the Nigerian and Indian librarians’ level of familiarity with Linked Data concepts. The study adopts a descriptive survey research design, a self-structured questionnaire as the major instrument for data collection. The target population of this study comprises all university libraries in Nigeria and India. The online questionnaire will be randomly administered to all Nigerian and Indian academic Librarians. The study adopts inferential and descriptive statistical analysis using using percentage, frequency count, standard deviations and means. The data will be analyzed using SPSS version 25.
